Het begon weer te kriebelen en zo pakte Lavinia het vliegtuig naar de USA. Een beetje kriskros langs de Oostkust maar hierbij een recab van onze culinaire bevindingen in Maine...
Maine, 'vacationland'....want daar zijn ze trots op: oh zo prachtig uitgestrekt, groen, eindeloos veel meren, de eindeloze kuststrook, rustig-zelfs in de zomer! En tja, LOBSTER all over the place! Enkele culinaire high lights uit Maine:
Rhumb Line in Camden, aan de haven, lekker druk 's avonds met ondergaande zon aan de kreeft!
Tinder Heart in Brooksville: de allerlekkerste pizza's bij een familie bakkerij in de tuin! Alleen van donderdag tot zaterdag, 17-20u; wat een concept!!
Prime in Rockland; een must go, maar absoluut voor de walk-in gaan bovenin het restaurant (je kan dan dus niet reserveren, maar gewoon op tijd gaan en even de tijd nemen om te wachten)...Een prachtig restaurant waar bijna alles van eigen grond komt, en een fameuze vrouwelijke chef die meerdere prijzen op haar 'buis' heeft staan.
En slapen...een mooie plek, bijzonder verhaal en eet vooral mee als je er bent. Vraag/reserveer de secluded hut in the woords: Deer Isle Hostel op Deer Isle. Koffie drinken in Stonington, er is maar 1 tentje!!
